I started wearing lolita fashion in August 2023. I'd known about the fashion for a very long time, thanks to picking up a volume of Kera magazine more than 10 years ago, and I liked living vicariously through fashion bloggers at the time. I never envisioned myself wearing the clothes, but I'd always dreamed of being more daring with my style.
I had the epiphany to try out the style because my husband and I were planning a trip to Japan, and I was thinking of ways to make the most out of the trip. That's when it occurred to me to revisit the fashions that I'd envied so long ago. Shortly after, I bought my first dress off Closetchild. It was a very slippery slope from there and I got super immersed in the style. I joined my local comm a few months later and have been having lots of fun ever since.
If you're wondering why clovers are such a prominent motif of mine, it's because I use the clover as my art signature and have done so for years. (It's also the only tattoo I have!) I took inspiration from my favorite video game of all time, Rule of Rose, and the chapter "The Clover Field". This game profoundly influenced me when I was a teenager because I was so in love with its style, and for some reason I was really taken with this chapter because it's where you're "on the airship" and introduced to the entire cast of characters.
